Prince-de-galles: an Eighties trend is back!

What is prince-de-galles?

To many fashionpeople, the Eighties were a time of overkill. Big shoulders created by shoulder pads were a big hit as well as crop tops and power suits.

In this blogpost, I want to talk about that other trend of the Eighties, namely the prince-de-galles pattern that is coming back in almost all collections of the big designers.

Prince-de-galles check pattern is a classic and old-school fabric, that was a great trend in the eighties, worn by fashionista’s like princess Diana, Kate Moss and many rock stars.

Nowadays, there is revival of this pattern, bringing vintage elegancy to every outfit. It was seen a lot on fashionweeks, worn by big influencers like Linda Tol or Sofie Valkiers.

When styled properly, prince-de-galles looks distinguished and elegant.

How to style prince-de-galles?

There are so many different ways to style the classical pattern. I give you a few examples.

As it is a pretty classic pattern, I love to wear it in a non-classical way like combining the jacket with a jeans and a pair of boots. Underneath the jacket I put on a simple white T-shirt.

With an oversized jacket, you create that edgy streetstyle look, as you can see right below.

To go to work, you can combine with black trousers and pumps, to create the more sophisticated business look.
