Demna Gvasalia is a Georgian fashion designer. He studied fashion design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Anwerp.
At the moment, he is the creative director of Balenciaga. He also created his own brand called Vetements.
He is a real rebel who includes influences of the former East bloc to his collections. After designing 2 seasons of Vetements, he already got nominated for the LVMH young designers award.
Vetements: the brand
Vetements, created by Demna Gvasalia, is all about the postsovjet look, a mixture of Western logo’s and some irony.
The brand is quite provocative but yet the pieces are very wearable.
My new raincoat of Vetements
When I saw this white raincoat, I was immediately excited and bought it right away.
It adds that touch of grunge to my outfit. It’s quite oversized which makes it easy to put an oversized hoodie or leather jacket underneath :-).
If you check the collections of SS 18 of Chanel, Burberry and further more, it’s all about plastic raincoats and plastic boots. Plastic is the new chic!
I also love the combination of the white raincoat with my white boots of Morobe. You can check one of my previous posts to know all the details about these boots.
A trend that has come back into streetwear, is the hoodie. It’s perfect to wear under my white coat in colder days. The one I’m wearing is also of Vetements and is my favourite sweater of the season.
What do you think about streetwear and the plastic trend?
